Life in Europa!

What I have learned since moving to Europe...
1. SLOW DOWN (but not on the road)
2. Appreciate how much of a miracle babies really are.
3. Bigger is not always better
4. Shoes are a status symbol.
5. DO NOT under estimate the power of cafe.

  1. #1 is spot on. It's so interesting how Europeans like to take it easy and relax - three hour dinners for example. But on the roads it felt like I was standing still even though I was speeding...just not enough I guess

  2. Bigger is not even existent sometimes! I spent 5 weeks in London several years ago and my goodness was everything tiny. Like the fridge. And the cars.

I didn't mind at all, it was just very different to see that.

  3. I remember being in a car in Europe and being thankful I wasn't driving.

  4. I live in Europe and first I must say you are right on shoes be a status symbol and the power of cafe. For driving is okay perfect in North Italy, but Britain the roads are too small for my liking. But I love living in Europe. :)

Passing by from SITs. Enjoy your day.

  5. It seems Italy has taught you well. I learned slightly different lessons when I lived in Scotland (especially about the shoes!).

  6. Sounds like a different world over there!! Happy SITS day

  9. My Aunt lives in Europe and just loves it. She is always posting such great pictures on facebook. I'm sure she has learned some of these valuable lessons.

  10. Happy SITS day!

I have been to France and love the relaxed atmosphere. If only North America would follow!

  11. I would love to make a trip to Europe one day! Seems like it might be worth it just to get a little perspective!

  12. When I visited Italy the first time I was told that the street signs and traffic lights are "suggestions." That proved to be so true

  13. I can't wait till the day I can visit Europe and experience these things!

  14. Sounds good to me!!!

  15. I just can't wait to visit. You had me at shoes:)

  16. I have never been to Italy but it is definitely top 3 on my list of places to visit/live someday.

And who wouldn't want to go somewhere with delicious coffee and beautiful shoes?

    Seems like a no-brainer!

  17. Oh how I would love to live in Europe - even for just a year. I feel like I'm always in a hurry and you are correct, they so have it figured out. I tend to operate on a European time philosophy - when I have to be somewhere at 8:15, it is still acceptable to me to arrive at 8:30. I know, I know. I'm in the US minority. I just hate to rush but we live in society in which we have to do so often. Love your blog!

  18. Oh, wow! I'm so jealous that you are in Europe. It must be just beautiful

  19. Haha, love this!! And I love that European philosophy! Hmmm, now I may need to go through my shoes and weed out a few (and maybe get another pair). :D

    Such interesting lessons.

  21. I think the first one is crucial. lol. I'll keep it in mind if I ever visit.

  22. I think the slow down advice is something I would definitely enjoy if I ever get the chance to visit Europe. We're so rush rush hurry hurry in the states. Happy Sits day!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I could get used to all of those. :)

  24. You are my kind of girl if shoes are a status symbol. :) Stopping by from SITS!

  25. Right on with the shoes :) oh, and a cafe is devine! Stopping by from SITS

  26. LOL...man how different Europe is. I remeber when I visited Portugal it was very similar to that...small. Very small

  27. congrats on being feature blogger!

  28. Ahh, I would love to be able to slow down and not have everyone think I'm a slacker. :) The shoe part would get me in trouble though....

    ReplyDelete
  29. I guess my shoes would give me away!!

  30. Everything hit home for me! Especially #2... as a WAHM it's hard to appreciate your children for the wonderful beings they are. I have to make sure to take a breather every now and then so that I don't lose sight of their individuality!

  31. Ha, that's funny... and so true. Especially the part about driving and taking things slow.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Europe in a nutshell! Congrats on your SITS day!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Definitely insider tips, because I wouldn't have thought of them at all. :)

  34. note to self:

when packing for a trip to europe, buy a pair of jimmy choos... but make sure they're heavy enough to keep the lead on the pedal for driving.

  35. Love this...my father is Italian and when I was 15 we went to Italy to stay with my uncle for awhile. I was too young to appreciate how insanely amazing Italy was..but my time there left me with a life-long love for certain things...and a greater appreciation for my family.
i love your line about driving fast--my uncle had a driver who freaked us all out with how fast he drove on the autostrada! Funny when i look back--scary at the time!

  36. #4 Sounds like the perfect excuse for some new shoes!!

  37. and in Italy;
    1) Gelato can change your life
    2) Cappucino is to be consumed while sitting and sipped
    3) Take a long time for dinner ... what's the rush.

    Can I move there?

  38. I've never even been to Europe but from what I've seen/heard your list of "What I've Learned" seems true of Europeans! Good luck on your many adventures there!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well, yes, I guess you are in the shoe capital of the world! How fun.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hmm maybe I should move to suroe so i can slow down lol. Thought I would not make it because I have no fashion sense in shoes lol.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Shoes...I think I might fit in just fine!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well, it would be nice to slow down a little. But it would take some getting used to.

    ReplyDelete
  43. A perfect little list & so true!

    Happy SITS feature day!
