Xavier Rudd
Xavier Rudd is an Aussie singer, songwriter and tears up the didgeridoo along with the slide guitar like no other! Much of his music is guitar heavy and socially conscious. A bear footed vegetarian neo hippy type if you will. He released his first album TO LET in 2002 followed by SOLACE in 2004, FOOD IN THE BELLY IN 2005, WHITE MOTH 2007 AND DARK SHADES OF BLUE IN 2008. I only own Food in the Belly but I listen to it religiously. It’s an extremely relaxing album as I’m sure all of his albums are. So sit back, put your feet up and enjoy all 2 minutes and 52 seconds of this video of him playing “Better People”.

Iron & Wine
This is one of my favorite Iron & Wine songs, "Naked as we came". It's a morbidly romantic song in my opinion that makes you want to bear hug your loved one and not let go. Samual Beam released his first Iron & Wine album, "The Creek Drank the Cradle" 2002. Beam wrote, recorded and produced the album at his home studio. There have since been two other albums and many EP's. Beams albums are heavy on acoustic guitar, banjo, and the slide guitar. His music has been compared to that of Nick Drake and John Fahey.

Regina Spektor
This song, "Laughing With" is off of Regina Spektor's new album "Far". She is a unique artist with heavy piano and vocals. For me, she is a breath of fresh air! I highly recommend this album as well as "Begin to Hope".
This live version of "Apres Moi" is amazing! Part of the song is sung in Russian.
Today: Turn off the tv and listen to at least an hour of new music! Explore something that you may not have given a chance before. Ask a friend what their favorite album is...get inspired!

American Icons and Music

With the passing of Michael Jackson, a true American icon, I thought I would introduce another very talented artist that seems to stay on top of my play list these days. RobinElla! Her unique music has a wonderful mix of blue grass, blues, jazz and folk. Her lyrics speak to me and resurface all sorts of wonderful emotions and memories of country days and bluesy nights. Perfect for summer listening! On all of her five albums she remakes several old jazz favorites as well as an amazing group of original songs. Find her info at www.robinella.com! My favorite album to listen to at this time is Robinella and the CC string band! Happy Listening!
